About the Artist

My name is Gary J. Rowland and I do live on Moose Hill in Jay, Maine. I am a retired paper maker and enjoy hunting, fishing, bird-watching and woodworking. I have worked with wood for over 35 years, starting with a sewing cabinet for my wife. I have made cupboards, cabinets, coffee tables and more. I have owned a small lathe for years and wanted to broaden my woodworking endeavors with turned pieces. I enjoy selecting a piece of wood and designing and turning a piece that enhances the color and grain of the wood.
